Jan 14, 2022 - Las Vegas, Nevada - Tragedy struck in Summerlin on Thursday night as a fatal crash between a pickup truck and a sedan resulted in the death of a man. The incident occurred around 7:23 p.m. on Rampart Boulevard, south of Tournament Hills Drive, by Bruce Trent Park, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
The police stated that a 1991 Toyota Camry was heading north on Rampart when it collided with a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado that was exiting a parking lot. The driver of the Toyota was taken to UMC with substantial injuries, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Initially, the driver of the Toyota was described as a man in his 50s by Lt. Bret Ficklin with LVMPD's Traffic Bureau. However, the police later released a statement saying that the driver was actually 79 years old.
The driver of the Chevrolet and three teenage passengers were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, as a precautionary measure. The investigators do not suspect impairment on the part of the Chevrolet's driver, according to Ficklin.
Sadly, this is the seventh traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction so far this year.
Commentary from Tim O'Reilly
Losing a loved one or seeing them get seriously injured in a car accident can be a traumatic and life-changing event. That is why it is crucial to seek the help of a personal injury attorney, says Tim O'Reilly, a leading Las Vegas personal injury attorney.
Commenting on the recent tragic incident in Summerlin, where a man lost his life in a car accident, O'Reilly said, "When a family loses a loved one or suffers a serious injury in a car accident, it can be a confusing and stressful time. There are medical bills to pay, insurance companies to deal with, and legal proceedings to navigate. That is why it's important to have an experienced personal injury attorney on your side who can help you get the compensation you deserve."
O'Reilly emphasized that time is of the essence when it comes to personal injury cases. "The longer you wait, the harder it can be to collect evidence, talk to witnesses, and build a strong case.
