Jan 25, 2022 - Las Vegas, Nevada - The parents of a boy who died and his sister who was critically injured in a North Las Vegas crosswalk have filed a lawsuit against the city and other parties.
The incident occurred in February 2020 as Alexander Bush, 12, and Charlotte, 9, were walking home from school at Somerset Academy’s Losee Campus.
Charlotte suffered lifelong disabilities from the crash. The lawsuit filed by attorney Farhan Naqvi alleged that the crosswalk was in a dangerous condition for use due to insufficient warning lights, no school zone signs, no speed limit signs, no crossing guards, and inadequate markings.
The driver of the pickup, Mark Kline, pleaded no contest in February 2021 to vehicular manslaughter and other misdemeanors in the crash.
The complaint filed last week names Kline, the city of North Las Vegas, Somerset Academy, the Nevada State Public Charter School Authority, and several others as defendants. The city declined to comment on the lawsuit, and court records do not list a civil attorney for Kline in the case.
Commentary from Tim O'Reilly
In the wake of a tragic car accident that resulted in the death of a child and critical injuries to another, leading Las Vegas personal injury attorney, Tim O'Reilly, stresses the importance of contacting a personal injury attorney for legal assistance.

The recent lawsuit filed by the parents of Alexander Bush, who died in a North Las Vegas crosswalk accident, highlights the need for legal representation. The lawsuit alleges that the city and Somerset Academy were responsible for the children's safety due to a dangerous crosswalk with insufficient warning lights, no school zone signs, no speed limit signs, no crossing guards, and inadequate markings.
"An attorney can help you hold the responsible parties accountable for their negligence and seek the compensation you need to cover medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering," O'Reilly explains. "In the case of the Bush family, their tragic loss and ongoing care for their daughter's disabilities warrant fair compensation."
O'Reilly urges those who have been involved in a car accident resulting in serious injury or death to seek legal counsel as soon as possible. "We're here to help you during this difficult time and fight for the justice you deserve," he concludes.
